Joyce Muniz’s life mirrors a journey. Born in Brazil and raised in Vienna, she now splits her time between there and Berlin. Starting as a DJ and MC at Vienna’s Flex club, she rose to prominence touring with Major Lazer before focusing on production with respected labels like Exploited, Get Physical, and Kompakt. She recently toured Germany with the SynthLive project—its first female member—and continues to DJ globally, including a recent Australian tour.
In 2023, she released her second album Zeitkapsel on her own label, Joyce Muniz Music. The album reflected her musical evolution—from trip-hop and house to electro—featuring tracks like “Never Brushing The Sound,” “Bangalore Girl,” and the standout “Arrivederci Bella,” where she raps in Portuguese for the first time in years.
A cancer diagnosis in her early 30s led her back to Brazil, where reconnecting with her grandfather’s shamanism reshaped her creativity. During the pandemic, she deepened her craft and became a Native Instruments workshop host, also earning a degree in radio presenting. She continues to collaborate with artists like Detachments and Chicks On Speed, with support from names like DJ Hell, Âme, Dixon, and Green Velvet.
Recent successes include “No Haters” with Renato Cohen and “Beats & Lines” with Sara Bluma, a Kompakt debut that topped Beatport’s Indie Dance chart. In 2025, she’s set to release the Afro electro single “Mo Dupe” and return to Kompakt. With constant touring across Europe, the U.S., and Brazil, where she was recently on Mixmag’s cover, her musical journey is far from over.
